Preheat the oven to 180c. Line a 12 hole muffin tin with paper cases.
Tip the softened butter, sugar, eggs, flour, milk and baking powder into a large bowl. Beat together until you have a smooth, soft batter.
Fill the cases 2/3 full with the batter and then make a small dip in the top of each one and spoon in one tsp of jam. Cover with another tablespoon of batter.
Bake for 25 minutes until risen and cooked through. Cool on a wire rack.
For the topping, mix the sugar and cinnamon together. While the muffins are still warm from the oven, brush lightly with melted butter and sprinkle over the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
