A French Country Classic

Make mashed potatoes (using butter and milk). Separate in two. Butter 9x13" pan. Put half potatoes. Brown beef with butter and salt and pepper. Layer with juices on top of potatoes. Cover with remaining potatoes. Top with cheese. Cook at 350` until cheese is golden brown. Notes: Add chopped onions, salt and pepper to the beef when frying it.
Serve with a simple salad with dijono vinagrette
